About Shardale

Our History

Shardale Game was founded by Adam Massheder a gamekeeper for over 20 years across Yorkshire. Adam has a passion for the birds he produces and ensuring these can be enjoyed by everyone, from restaurants to families in their homes through out the UK and across the world.

In 2018 Adam secured a grant to help him build a new FSA approved game handling facility to ensure he could market the high-quality produce from his and other local estates, allowing everyone to enjoy these nutritious and wild products.

We are part of a long-established Yorkshire based Farming and game business. As well as selling oven ready Game through Shardale wild British Game, we breed and sell young game birds to estates nationwide and manage shoots throughout Yorkshire.

Game and countryside management are important parts of the rural economy and landscape. Caring for the environment, creating jobs for the local economy and creating much needed revenue to local business.

Game meat is one of the healthiest meats available being very lean, deliciously nutritious and hormone additive free all raised in a natural outdoor environment.

What we do

Our aim is to bring the great taste of the British countryside into homes and businesses across the UK. We do this by simply making high-quality wild British Game meats easily available to everyone. That's why we ensure that ordering Game from Shardale is straightforward and hassle-free.

All of our wild British Game is sourced from local estates. We're extremely proud of the fact that we're involved with both the management of the Game birds as well as conservation throughout these estates. This enables us to have ultimate traceability of all our products, from egg to plate, for your peace of mind.

At Shardale Game, our main objective is to process and sell Game meats for all customers to enjoy. We take great pride in breeding and raising the birds ourselves in our beautiful natural environment in Yorkshire. We are a truly ‘Field to Fork’ business.

We ensure that the birds are laid down in exactly the right quantities whilst we help to maintain the natural habitats of the estates that we source the birds from.

All the diets of our game birds are natural grain-based, and the game birds forage while they roam free around the estates. There are no growth hormones added to their diets. This means natural, lean meat for a truly healthy end product.

Conservation

At Shardale Game, we take the management and upkeep of the natural environment seriously.

It's a key part of what we do here. Combined with the rest of our conservation efforts, we also plant game cover which provides winter feed for wild birds and other animals, and also offers a great environment for bees and other insects which are crucial to the longevity of life on our planet.
